The South West Marine Ecosystem (SWME) conference series has been running for over ten years. It brings together marine conservation, scientists and managers to share information and network to improve understanding, future monitoring and management. The conference takes place at Plymouth University having outgrown its previous hosting arrangements with Plymouth Marine Laboratories (PML) and prior to that the Marine Biological Association (MBA).
The audience has grown to over 200 participants and 75+ organisations. An annual report is produced following each annual conference, alongside maintaining a SWME website, to record observations and capture change. The conference and annual report editors support the SWME initiative in a voluntary and neutral capacity to support the objectives.
