This webinar welcomed guest speakers Beth Brockett, Senior Specialist, Social Science, and Cheryl Willis, Principal Adviser, Connecting People with Nature Programme, from Natural England.
Natural England’s ambition is to get more people from all sections of society engaging with and benefitting from the natural environment. Beth and Cheryl discussed findings from Natural England’s People and Nature survey which gathers data on people’s use of the natural environment, the benefits they derive from it, and environmental attitudes and behaviours. This new survey builds on the Monitor of Engagement with the Natural Environment (MENE) survey which ran from 2009 to 2019. Beth and Cheryl will discuss findings from People and Nature and from a recent survey exploring specifically how children and young people have engaged with the natural environment during lockdown as well as some of the reasons for not spending more time outside. The talk is followed by a Q&A session.
This webinar is particularly relevant for those with an interest in how investment in the environment can impact public health, from health and social care professionals to local planning authorities.
